Experience Volunteering: June 3 – July 26, 2024!

VolunTeens

Volunteering is an exciting and fun way to help others and learn about the healthcare profession— with lots of hospital exposure. However, it is also a serious commitment. VolunTeens provide hundreds of hours of valuable service to our patients, caregivers, and team members. Wellstar MCG Health offers volunteer opportunities for high school students, ages 15-18, in a variety of settings to support the patient experience in clinical and non-clinical departments, clerical work, and wayfinding.

We accept applications in February for the summer session with the program beginning June 3, 2024. Students accepted into the summer program may continue to volunteer during the school year with approval from the Volunteer Services team.

If you are interested in serving as a VolunTeen, please submit the VolunTeen Application and required forms by March 15 during the open application period.

Once all forms are received, you will be contacted to schedule an interview. Those accepted into the program will be notified via email with information regarding TB testing and orientation requirements.

Dates and Deadlines

Program dates: June 3 - July 26, 2024
Application open: February 1 - March 15, 2024
Interviews: March 18-29
Confirmation with offer letter: April 10
Orientation dates: April 18, 6-8:30pm or April 20, 10am-12:30pm

Becoming a Wellstar VolunTeen

Complete the online application.
Print the Medical Release Form and have your physician complete the form.
Provide current Immunization Record.
Print the School Counselor Recommendation Form and have your counselor complete and sign the form.
Please submit a letter of recommendation. This may not come from a family member.
The above documents should be submitted to Wellstar MCG Health Volunteer Services via email to wellstarvolunteers@augusta.edu or via fax to 706-721-5196.

Due to the limited number of volunteer positions in this program, not all applicants can be accepted. The selection criteria includes receipt of a completed application and required documentation, ability to make required time commitment, previous volunteer or community service experience, GPA, student leadership positions, communication skills, and interest in a career in the healthcare field.

Applicants must be able to participate in at least 6 weeks during the session, for one 4-hour shift per week for 8 of the 10 weeks of summer. Please consider whether volunteering will fit your schedule and other commitments before applying. By submitting your completed application, you are agreeing to the program requirements.
