About

Maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) physicians, or perinatologists, works collaboratively with your primary care obstetrician (OB) to ensure you and your baby are getting the highest level of care possible as you go through your pregnancy.  This is important because, if you're having a high-risk pregnancy, you will need extra attention and care to make sure you and your baby have the best outcome.

Maternal-fetal medicine specialists care for patients with,

  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • Chronic health conditions

MFM also see women who:

  • are pregnant with more than one baby (multiple gestations)
  • are pregnant after 35 years of age
  • have an ultrasound that shows an abnormality
