Pediatrics Office Information 

Augusta University Pediatrics are delighted to provide complete general pediatric care to your children. We aim to make your child’s visit as comfortable and pleasant as possible.  

Walk-in Clinic Hours

We offer a Monday through Friday sick only walk-in clinic at 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. We only will be able to see a certain number of patients and the patients seen will be handled in order of arrival. Only two children per family can be seen during this clinic. We recommend arriving at 7:30 a.m. If we are unable to have walk-in clinic for any reason, a sign will be posted on the door and if possible, we will leave a message on our website.

  • Due to COVID-19 we are suspending "early bird" walk-in sick clinic until further notice; we are scheduling well visits (no symptoms of infectious illness) in the morning, and sick visits in the afternoon.

After Hours

After hours called will be handled by a nurse triage service.  If they are not able to answer your questions, then the doctor on call will be paged.  Routine questions should be handled during office hours.  Refills for routine medications will not be prescribed after hours.

Hospitalizations

If your child requires hospitalization we refer to the pediatric hospitalist service at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia for care. These pediatric hospitalists are well-trained and will communicate with us concerning your child’s healthcare needs.

Sick Visits

We will make every effort to accommodate same day sick visits for all of our sick children. Nurses may need to triage and decide when your child needs to be seen. There may be a wait if we are booked, but we will do our best to work your child into the schedule.

Appointments

Please arrive 15 minutes early for all appointments in order to fill out paperwork. Those parents arriving 15 minutes late for well checks will be rescheduled. Sick visits that are more than 15 minutes late will be triaged by a nurse and will be worked in if necessary.

Physicals and Paperwork

Please note that we will be happy to provide shot records, 4-point screens for school and sport physicals at the well check appointments. However, if these are requested at a later time, there will be a fee. Katie Beckett/Medicaid forms as well as college physical forms require an appointment to be filled out. Other forms such as FMLA, miscellaneous letters, and homebound paperwork will have a fee for completion at all times. Camp physicals/club physicals will also have a fee if not brought to a well check or patient visit. Please give us 7 days to complete any paperwork that is dropped off. Our nurses will call you when it’s ready. If you haven’t received a phone call in 7 days, please call us and leave a message on the nurse line.

Nurse Phone Calls

Our nurses do our best to answer your phone calls. On certain days, due to high clinic volume, it could be a few hours for a nurse to return your phone call. If your child worsens or if you would like for your child to be seen, please go ahead and call our appointment line to make an appointment.  Non-emergent phone calls to the nurse line after 4:30 p.m. may not be answered until the next business day. If you have not received a phone call from a nurse within 3 hours, please call back as to make sure we received your message.

Prescription Refills

Prescription refills will be completed within a 24 hour period during business days/hours.

Cancellations

We understand that for many reasons you might not be able to keep an appointment. Please cancel and reschedule these appointments as soon as possible. Patients that fail to cancel and do not show for their appointment on 3 or more occasions WILL BE discharged from the practice.

Vaccinations

We follow the Advisory Committee on Immunizations Practices, American Academy of Pediatrics and Center for Disease Control recommended vaccine schedules. We strongly recommend our patients receive vaccines according to these schedules and would be happy to discuss this with you.
