Our Approach

Neurosurgery is part of the Neuroscience Center of Excellence. Our goal is to deliver excellent patient care, provide superior education to the resident staff and the community as a whole, and engage in innovative research.

Our nationally recognized patient- and family-centered care approach includes a range of services for patients with diseases of the:

  • brain
  • spine
  • spinal cord
  • peripheral nerves

We provide a full range of neurosurgical services to our patients at Augusta University Medical Center, a 520-bed tertiary hospital that offers specialized services not available in other facilities in the region. We have:

  • The region's best-equipped and busiest Acute Care Services (ACS) verified Level I Trauma Center
  • Dedicated neurosurgical operating rooms with state-of-the-art equipment
  • a 20-bed Neurocritical Intensive Care Unit
  • The only Gamma Knife Center of the region
  • The award-winning Children's Hospital of Georgia where we offer pediatric neurological care. Our neurosurgeons work with pediatric neurologists to treat children with brain and spinal disorders.
