Dr. Maugans has been a practicing physician and surgeon for over 30 years. He has practiced both family medicine and neurosurgery. For the past twenty years, he has focused on pediatric neurosurgery. He has served in several academic and leadership roles and has contributed to the medical literature in topics as diverse as spirituality in medicine and the pathophysiology of pediatric sports related concussion. He serves as Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery at the Children's Hospital of Georgia.
