About Tanya L. Mims, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC

Tanya Mims graduated from the Medical College of Georgia School of Nursing (now Augusta University College of Nursing) in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Tanya completed her Master of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University School of Nursing in 2018 and became a certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She is board certified by both the ANCC and AANP. She began her nursing career as a registered nurse in 2001 on the cardiac floor of University Hospital in Augusta and then transitioned to the PICU of the Children’s Hospital of Georgia. For the next 15 years, Tanya continued to provide nursing care to adults and children in diverse roles in the CSRA including in rheumatology, telehealth, utilization review, rehabilitation, nursing homes, CNA education, and at the AU Clinical Trials Office. Upon completing her NP training, she practiced at Covenant Pediatrics providing pediatric primary care to infants and children, and served as the quality improvement coordinator. In 2021, Tanya joined the Division of Allergy-Immunology and Pediatric Rheumatology at Augusta University full time as a Nurse Practitioner in allergy-immunology.

Clinical Interests

Tanya’s clinical practice at Augusta University is focused on the outpatient management of children and adults with common allergic and immunologic disorders. Her clinic interests are management of allergic rhinitis and asthma with allergen immunotherapy, and evaluation and management of chronic urticaria.
