Dr. Martin Rutkowski specializes in brain tumor surgery with expertise in both surgical neuro-oncology and skull base neurosurgery. He received his BA in religious studies at Brown University, followed by medical school at UCLA and neurosurgery residency at UCSF. He completed advanced subspecialty fellowship training in open and endoscopic skull base surgery at the University of Southern California. With a clinical focus on both benign and malignant brain tumors, including gliomas, meningiomas, schwannomas, and pituitary adenomas, he has expertise in minimally invasive cranial approaches, awake brain mapping, and endoscopic and exoscopic instrumentation. Additionally, he brings experience in the realms of quality improvement for brain tumor patients, surgical education including the development of cadaveric simulation models, and multiple grant-funded translational research projects investigating the immunological microenvironment of glioblastoma and pituitary adenoma. He has over 70 peer-reviewed publications and regularly presents his clinical and basic science research at national meetings.
