About Kathleen H. Slagle, MN, CPNP

Katy Slagle graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2000 with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing as well as an Honors Degree from the University of South Carolina Honors College. Her Honors research and thesis focused on Pediatrics, specifically the impact of pediatric chronic illness on healthy siblings. In 2004/2005, Katy completed a Masters in Nursing, and became a certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Katy has been in clinical nursing practice since 2000, first as a registered nurse in inpatient Pediatrics at MCG Children�s Medical Center (now Children�s Hospital of Georgia) until 2006, then as a pediatric nurse practitioner in various settings, including Pediatric Gastroenterology clinic, Pediatric Neurodevelopmental clinic, and newborn nursery. Katy also taught in the Augusta University College of Nursing for several years, and remains an adjunct faculty member. Katy rejoined the AU Pediatric Gastroenterology team in 2013 as outpatient pediatric nurse practitioner. Her clinical practice is primarily focused on the evaluation and treatment of children with gastrointestinal conditions. She has a special interest in Eosinophilic Esophagitis and the impact of food allergy/intolerance on gastrointestinal health, serving as the primary GI provider in the Pediatric Eosinophilic Esophagitis clinics. Other clinical interests include: pediatric growth issues, pediatric nutrition, breastfeeding, celiac disease, and motility disorders.
