A primary care clinician should be patient's primary point of contact within the healthcare system and therefore carry a great deal of responsibility. As a family medicine physician, I am committed to the person and not a particular organ system or disease group like a specialist. For that reason, it is key for me to understand context of illness, seek opportunities for prevention and health education and advocate for my patients while enabling them towards self-care. The ultimate goal is to better the health of patients through managing evidence based resources.
