Dr. Yakoub earned his medical degree at University of Cairo, then obtained his PhD degree at Imperial College London. He completed his surgical residency at Staten Island University Hospital in NYC then his fellowship training in Complex General Surgical Oncology at the University of Miami-Miller School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Yakoub initially practiced as an Assistant Professor at the University of Miami where he investigated metabolic reprogramming of pancreatic cancer cells to improve chemotherapy responsiveness, then he became an Associate Professor at University of Tennessee Health Sciences in Memphis, then at the Mayo Clinic Health System. Dr. Yakoub served as a panel member at the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN). His research interests include improving clinical outcomes in upper gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary pancreatic cancer patients.

  • Clinical Interests

    Dr. Yakoub’s interests include the treatment of benign and malignant disorders of the esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, biliary system, small intestine and sarcomas. Including open, laparoscopic and robotic techniques.

    Research interests include improving clinical outcomes in upper gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary pancreatic cancer patients
