Orthodontic Treatment
Sometimes children might need orthodontic treatment in addition to cleft or craniofacial
surgery to help guide the growth and development of their face. Orthodontics can be
used to improve the look and function of the mouth and teeth using a long-term treatment
plan - which includes phases of active treatment, combined with periods where no treatment
will be necessary.
Our orthodontist is also trained in Nasoalveolar Molding (NAM) technique for unilateral and bilateral cleft lip and palate.
Patient Evaluation for Optimum Care
Our interdisciplinary team has appointments available each month where your child
can be evaluated by pediatric plastic surgeons, pediatric otolaryngologists, pediatric
orthodontists, pediatric speech therapist and pediatric audiologists - all in one
visit – providing your family with greater convenience and an improved continuity
of care.
What if my unborn baby has a cleft or craniofacial condition?
If you are pregnant with a baby that has been found to have a cleft or craniofacial
condition while in utero, come see us. We offer mothers-to-be prenatal consultations
with our plastic surgeons to answer any questions prior to delivery.
We also believe in a patient- and family-centered approach that encourages parents
and caregivers to be a major part of creating their child’s treatment plan.
