Non-surgical treatments
Not every injury requires surgery, some minor, and sometimes major, orthopedic conditions
can be treated in-office using,
- Casting and Splints, for sprains, fractures and broken bones.
- Injections and aspirations, for relief from pain and inflammation.
- Prescriptions, for bracing, orthotics and medications.

Surgical treatments
When surgery is recommended, Children’s Hospital of Georgia is home to the region’s

by pediatric anesthesiologists and pediatric certified nurses, provide care to your
child in a dedicated pediatric operating room designed for children. We perform:
- Open surgery, for more complex or complicated procedures where it’s important for
a surgeon to see the extent of the injury they are repairing.
- Pediatric Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) using orthoscopic and laparoscopic techniques
for less pain and faster recovery.
- Advanced fixation techniques, for broken bones.
Specialized care treatments
We also see patients with more serious conditions of the musculoskeletal system. Over
time, we get to know these children like family as we prepare for long-term treatment
options.
- Cancer care, we have a dedicated pediatric oncologist who provides treatment and surgery
for musculoskeletal cancer and other cancer-related bone problems.
- Congenital and developmental musculoskeletal conditions, we offer surgical and nonsurgical
treatments for pediatric patients with conditions of the spine, hip, knee, leg and
foot.
We have Child Life Specialists available who will talk to your child and explain their condition so as to help them
understand and cope with treatment and care.
