Our Approach

Our audiologists offer a specialized program for pediatric patients at Children’s Hospital of Georgia. We work with pediatric otolaryngologists (ENT), pediatricians, pediatric oncologists, neurologists, speech pathologists, and school audiologists to ensure best care for each patient.

Our team of pediatric audiologists are trained to perform audiological testing on children with genetic or acquired hearing loss through comprehensive screening and evaluation.

We are currently the only hospital in the area that can provide hearing aids, bone anchored hearing aids (BAHA) and cochlear implants.

Children can be seen for various hearing disorders and issues, including:

  • Conductive, mixed, and sensorineural hearing loss
  • Tinnitus
  • Cholesteatoma
  • Balance disturbance/vertigo (less common)

We also have experience in evaluating and treating children with craniofacial or genetic disorders, including, but not limited to:

  • Down’s syndrome
  • Goldenhar syndrome
  • Treacher Collins syndrome
  • Microtia and atresia
  • Cleft lip/palate
  • Pendred syndrome
  • Kabuki syndrome
  • Noonan syndrome

We provide hearing evaluation and treatment for pediatric patients.

Newborn Screenings

We perform newborn hearing screenings at the child's bedside in the NICU. If a child did not have their hearing screened in the hospital or failed their newborn hearing screening, they are seen for follow-up screening at our location on the 4th floor of the MOB.
