Our Approach

Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and related demyelinating disorders, are complex and can pose many challenges to the daily lives of those living with them.  The mission of the Augusta Multiple Sclerosis Center is to allow people living with demyelinating disease to achieve a better quality of life by stopping disease progression and optimizing symptomatic control.

Through interdisciplinary collaboration, we provide expert care and coordination of services to diagnosis and treat demyelinating diseases, including:

  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder (NMOSD)
  • Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein Antibody Disorder (MOGAD)

The Augusta Multiple Sclerosis Center is a Center for Comprehensive Care recognized by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as providing the highest level of patient care. Our MS team is dedicated to patient- and family-centered care when diagnosing and treating demyelinating disorders with individualized treatment plans. Services include:

  • Individualized approach to choosing disease modifying therapy
  • Research and access to clinical trials
  • Referrals to specialized care within the Augusta University Health System including:
    • Neuro-ophthalmology
    • Urology or Urogynecology
    • Gastroenterology
    • Neuropsychology
    • Spasticity managed with intrathecal baclofen or Botox
    • Rehabilitation with physical, occupational and speech therapy
  • Affiliation with the Georgia Chapterand the South Carolina Regional Office of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
  • Education for the future generation of providers
