A New Home for Transplant Patients

Carlos and Marguerite Mason Solid Organ Transplant Center

Mason Trust and Augusta University

The Carlos and Marguerite Mason Trust awarded Augusta University $1.45 million to help fund the construction of a $4.1 million consolidated and expanded kidney transplant center at Augusta University Medical Center. The new multidisciplinary center will double the capacity for transplant evaluations and ongoing care, essentially paving the way for more patients to receive life-saving organs. In recognition of the generous donation and the Trust’s commitment to supporting organ transplantation for more than two decades at the academic health center, the new center is named the Carlos and Marguerite Mason Solid Organ Transplant Center.

Our new multidisciplinary center has doubled the capacity for transplant evaluations and ongoing care, paving the way for more patients to receive lifesaving organs.

Our new 14,000-square-foot center was built to accommodate clinical needs, consultations, lab services, an infusion room, a medication assistance program and an education library. It was our goal to improve the patient experience by merging services into one center.

Amenities include:

• Lab services

• Infusion services

• Patient education library

• Conference room with teleconference capabilities for educating patients, providers and dialysis centers

• Pre- and post-transplant experience in a consolidated transplant center
