Philosophy of Care

  • All patients should be provided with high quality care which incorporates both knowledge gained from cutting-edge research and patient/family preferences. Therefore, physicians in general and cancer physicians in particular should be well informed regarding current best practices for each individual patient's disease while also taking time to understand the patient as a person and his or her unique situation. Today's cancer treatments require a variety of specialists which means we need to work effectively to coordinate patient care as a team to help cure patients' cancer and provide the best quality of life while doing it.

I am originally from South Carolina and attended Furman University where I completed a double major in history and biology. I then completed medical school as well as my intern year in internal medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. I completed a radiation oncology residency in Miami, Florida at the University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospital where I received a diverse clinical training in the treatment of cancer patients and led a variety of research endeavors.
