Philosophy of Care

  • Treating patients with respect and compassion is a key to successfully understanding their gastrointestinal problems. Carefully listening to their symptoms will often lead to a cost effective and efficient evaluation and ultimately an accurate diagnosis. Once a diagnosis is made patient care should be guided by the results of well performed studies, or what is commonly referred to as an evidence based medicine approach to determine the optimal treatment. Often time's studies do not adequately address the needs of a specific patient and the judgment of an experienced physician is required to provide the best care. Many gastrointestinal disorders require on going care which can be equally important to the patient's health as the initial care. The trust between the patient and physician can be crucial to the overall success in the treatment plane and should be nurtured.
  • Quality should be emphasized in all aspect of patient care.
