When you think about providers who strive to make meaningful connections between community, clinic and the classroom, PA Jonell Poe quickly comes to mind. PA Poe cares passionately about the patients, families and students she serves. Jonell Poe has over twenty years of experience in surgical and medical care of patients. A graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, Physician Assistant Program, she is loyal to college and the program. She has served as Adjunct Clinical Faculty to the Physician Assistant Department of the College of Allied Health Sciences for 15 years. Her commitment to of service to students is evidenced by her recognition in teaching. In 2005 she received the Georgia Association Physician Assistant Faculty of the Year Award. In 2013 she received both the Clinical Educator Award and the Outstanding Clinical Faculty Teaching Award. She is a mentor to the University's Advanced Practice Providers and represents her colleagues on the University's Credentialing and Medical Executive Committees. She helps to advance the philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care by serving as a preceptor for patient advisors of the Medicine IV clinic. She is an educator for her community and although a novice gardener, she has ambition to win garden of the year, one day.

    My areas of interest are: treatment investigations (investigational drug) research, qualitative behavioral research, prevention intervention and planning

    I am committed to treat patients and their families with the highest degree of compassion, dignity and respect by supporting their physical, emotional, psychological, spiritual and social needs. I endeavor to instill in patients a confidence of their ability to be vocal and active partners in their health care decisions. I strive to collaborate with patients, their families and other health care professionals to ensure prompt delivery of the safest, highest in quality care possible. I equally commit to use evidence-based science in clinical decision making yet I will not ignore the common sense of care. I aim to provide unbiased, patient centered care to improve the health outcomes of individuals, families and communities. I commit to meet patients where they are, no matter who they are or how they live.
