About

Augusta University Medical Center (AUMC) has been treating trauma patients for over 30 years. We are the region’s only Level I Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center verified by the American College of Surgeons (ACS). We specialized in critically ill and injured patients with life-threatening injuries, our adult trauma team treats patients ages 13 and older, while a specialty-trained pediatric team treats patients ages 12 and younger.

Trauma patients admitted to AUMC have the best outcomes because we offer:

  • Critical Care Surgeons: Board-certified trauma surgeons, with added qualifications as critical care surgeons - making them some of the most highly trained in the Southeast.
  • Fully equipped ICU: We have a 12 bed shock/trauma adult Intensive Care Unit ICU, state-of-the-art operating room, advance technology and dedicated trauma resuscitation area.
  • 24/7 Rapid Response Teams: This includes sub-specialists from throughout the hospital, ready to provide immediate treatment to patients with complex multi-system injuries.
  • Trauma program staff: Including trauma program managers, PI coordinator, trauma registrars and injury prevention specialists.
