About

Augusta University Medical Center (AUMC) has been treating trauma patients for over 30 years. We are the region’s only Level I Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center verified by the American College of Surgeons (ACS). We specialized in critically ill and injured patients with life-threatening injuries, our adult trauma team treats patients aged 13 and older, while our pediatric team treats patients aged 12 and younger.

Trauma patients admitted to AUMC have the best outcomes because we offer:

  • Critical Care Surgeons: Board-certified trauma surgeons, with added qualifications as critical care surgeons - making them some of the most highly trained in the Southeast.
  • Fully equipped ICU: We have a 12 bed shock/trauma adult Intensive Care Unit ICU, state-of-the-art operating room, advance technology and dedicated trauma resuscitation area.
  • 24/7 Rapid Response Teams: This includes sub-specialists from throughout the hospital, ready to provide immediate treatment to patients with complex multi-system injuries.
  • Trauma program staff: Including trauma program managers, PI coordinator, trauma registrars and injury prevention specialists.
  • Trauma prevention: We strive to reduce the incidence of traumatic injury through education, outreach and research.
