What to Expect

During the Mohs surgery procedure, the surgeon removes the skin growth layer by layer. The Mohs surgeon immediately examines each layer under the microscope. Layers are removed and examined until no abnormal cells are found. Mohs surgery allows cancerous cells to be removed while preserving the healthy tissue that surrounds them.

The Mohs surgery procedure is performed on an outpatient basis and is performed in office using local anesthesia.
