State-of-the-Art Pediatric Echocardiography at Children's Hospital of Georgia

Children’s Hospital of Georgia in Augusta, has the region’s only pediatric echocardiography lab dedicated to caring for children with congenital and acquired pediatric heart defects.

We also have the unique distinction of being one of only 13 pediatric labs in the United States that is certified and accredited for children by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories.

We bring a wealth of experience and expertise in non-invasive pediatric cardiology. This means our staff and physicians are specially trained to diagnose and treat even the most complex heart problems in children.

As part of our patient- and family-centered care, parents are encouraged to tour the lab and accompany their child to the procedure. Every step is explained in detail to allow time for questions and concerns.

What is Pediatric Echocardiography?

A pediatric echocardiogram (often called an echo) is a test that uses ultrasound images to look at the structures and function of the heart.

Pediatric cardiac imaging and echo are essential tools for doctors to diagnose and treat heart disease in children. A safe and painless test, a pediatric echo is often a less invasive alternative to a pediatric cardiac catheterization.
