Babies are safest when placed to sleep on their backs in an uncluttered crib or bassinet.  Items such as blankets, pillows, bumpers, stuffed animals or care items can be a significant risk to infants.  NEVER place an infant to sleep on an adult bed, couch, pillow or other soft surface.

Sleep sacks are a safer alternative to blankets.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics infants should only be placed to sleep on their backs, NEVER on their side or stomach. This includes naps as well as night time sleeping.

Tummy time is important for development but should always be directly supervised by a responsible adult.

For more information, attend our monthly Cribs for Kids class.
