Augusta University Health is the region's only academic health center.

In the fall of 2015, the Georgia Board of Regents renamed Georgia Regents University to Augusta University, supporting a strategic plan and partnership with the surrounding community. With a rich history as the only academic medical center in the area, we continue to improve patient care in the communities we serve.

Why Choose an Academic Medical Center

Academic medical centers, also known as University-based medical centers, provide the most innovative, state-of-the-art medical care, representing every clinical specialty and sub-specialty of care. At Augusta University Health, formerly GRHealth, our clinical specialists provide multi-disciplinary care for comprehensive conditions and diseases, both routine and the very complex. At our many Adult and Pediatric Centers of Excellence and Specialty Clinics, we provide expert specialty care, but also provide disease management for long term health. As a nationally recognized medical and research center, our research scientists continue to improve care through research and discovery, including a strong clinical trials program.

Mission Led Medical Education at MCG

With a mission "To lead Georgia and the nation to better health through excellence in biomedical education, discovery, patient care, and service", the Medical College of Georgia drives clinical care excellence. With a strong foundation of medical education since 1828, MCG continues as one of the cornerstones at Augusta University. Many of our physician specialists and research scientists at Augusta University Health were trained at MCG and continue to work to improve patient care, every day.
