Glaucoma specialist, caring for both adult and pediatric glaucoma patients. Furthermore, he has an interest in surgery of the anterior segment including cataracts. Dr. Marc Toeteberg-Harms attended Medical School at Humboldt University (Charité) Berlin, Germany, and at Christian-Albrechts University Kiel, Germany from which he received his medical degree. Dr. Toeteberg-Harms completed his ophthalmology residency at the Martin-Luther University, Halle (Saale) in Germany, and the University of Zurich in Switzerland. He earned his medical doctorate degree and the “venia legendi” (lecturer, “Privatdozent”) at the University of the Zurich Medical School. Later, he completed a two-year clinical and basic research glaucoma fellowships at both Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Boston, MA, and Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH. In addition, he completed a one-year clinical glaucoma fellowship at the University Hospital Zurich. Dr. Toeteberg-Harms is the former Director of Glaucoma Service, senior attending physician surgeon at the University Hospital Zurich, Dept. of Ophthalmology, and clinical instructor and lecturer with the University of Zurich. He was actively involved within the European Glaucoma Society. He is a co-author of the 5th edition of the “Terminology and Guidelines for Glaucoma” by the European Glaucoma Society. He is a fellow of the Next Generation Partnership Program of the European Glaucoma Society and was a member (treasury) of the executive committee of the Glaucoma Group of the Swiss Society of Ophthalmology. Dr. Toeteberg-Harms has been an author of multiple articles in the peer-reviewed literature. As well, he has authored chapters in medical textbooks and lectured extensively at national and international meetings. He was awarded honorary membership of the Romanian Society of Glaucoma. Dr. Toeteberg-Harms is Board Certified by the European Board of Ophthalmology.
